Parag? Prague.. Praha.. Prag..

When you leave a beautiful place, you carry it with you wherever you go.

When I moved to Europe, I didn’t know about Prague much. Until one day, when I was hanging out with a couple of friends in Amsterdam. We were around the Red Light District area, when a middle aged Indian guy casually walked up to us and then asked “Maal yaha jyada acha hai ya parag me?” which translates to “Are the girls hotter here or in Parag?”. In my head I was like WTF is parag? My friend guessed what he meant, so we looked up things to do in Prague! And now, I’ve been to Prague thrice in the last 11 months πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

Fast forward a couple of months, a friend from Pune was visiting. So we planned to go Parag, not because people told us that Czech women are so darn pretty, sure it was a major motivation πŸ˜› but because it is inexpensive, sooooo beautiful, an amazing party place and has cheap sky diving. Going to Prague : 1, Not going : 0.

We got off our bus and got a day pass for 110Kč (~ €4.5). Since we had already booked a jump with Skydiving Prague, that’s what we did. Tandem jumping or as my friend calls it – Jump off an airplane from over 14,000 ft with a parachute and hope you don’t plummet to death. We were given the gear and the required instructions, which is rather surprisingly easy. Next, we deleted our browser history, made peace with ourselves, told our families how much we loved them and jumped off that plane. It was breathtaking… literally! And the view is simply majestic, and I got a selfie πŸ˜‰

If you’re not prepared to jump off the airplane, or have already done that or have an extra day, check out Petrin Hill. Great place to do a small trek, spend time with your family, have a romantic picnic, hang out with your friends, kids and of course get some pics. Like the ones below πŸ˜›

There’s more! Would you look at that giant castle! Prague Castle is the largest coherent castle complex in the world with multiple architectural styles including Romanesque style, Gothic Style and some Slovenian renovations over the years of its construction. It’s got the most exquisite view from it’s surroundings. Check it out.

Once you’re done there, another must go to place is the Charles bridge. It connects the old town with the Lesser Town and has a rich history worth checking out. If you’re not interested in the history, do it for the artists and the view. The bridge is the point of convergence for amazing independent artists and groups to show off their talents besides a helluva view! If you need some sailor action πŸ˜‰ you could go on a cruise near by.

You know what else you can do? Check out this amazing Bone Chapel Sedlec Ossuary. It is said to contain bones of 40,000 to 70,000 humans which have been used to decorate the chapel. I haven’t had a chance to visit it myself but I’ve heard it’s amazing. πŸ˜› It’s an hour long drive from the city, do check it out if get the time.

When the sun is going down, saunter around the old town area. If you love Indian food, we had this delicious lunch at “K” – The Two Brothers. Try the local bars, Czech beers are splendid and when you’re in Prague, you gotta let the absinthe in. There’s a lot of amazing bars in the old town area that have a huge variety of intoxicants, especially beers to offer. Check out this Brewery U Supa, love it there <3. Right besides that, there’s plenty of groups roaming as a part of pub crawls. It’s quite amazing to be honest, 1st hour of unlimited absinthe shots, beer and sangria, then some time at couple other pubs and finally free entry to the night club Karlovy Lazne, which by the way is the most amazing club – 5 floors, different music on each floor, an ice bar and amazing crowd. There’s this another favorite club of mine – Cafe 80’s – cool outfits, great cocktails, nostalgic music, great fun!!

If you’re not done for the night and are looking for some naughtiness, Prague is actually a jaw-dropper. That uncle wasn’t kidding around. Check out the most famous hot spots like Hot Peppers (free entry :P), Goldfingers, and a couple others in the area. They will not disappoint. Sooooo, I’ll just leave this here πŸ˜›
